National Park Dwingelderveld is Western Europe’s largest wet heath territory. Besides the heath fields, we find here several sand dispersions and forests. Dwingelderveld is not only very nice because of the possibilities to explore the beautiful landscape by bike, by foot or horse, there are loads of recreational activities available for young and old.
Between the stream valleys of the Ruiner Aa and the Dwingelderstroom lies the Dwingelderveld, a unique heath and forest region where height differences caused the forming of damp brooks and dry sand hills. In the middle of the nature reserve is the heath meadow Dwingelderheide, surrounded by various woods and sand dispersions. The varied scenery accommodates a large amount of animals and plants in the area.
